FREE WEBINAR: LEDs

State of the Lightbulb: Saying Farewell to Fluorescents

» WED. October 4th, 2023 - 12:00PM (PST)

The transition to energy-efficient, mercury-free LEDs in the United States is gaining momentum as seven states have already adopted legislation to help meet climate and toxic pollution reduction goals. Join the Appliance Standard Awareness Project (ASAP), National Stewardship Action Council (NSAC), Environment America and the Clean Lighting Coalition (CLiC) for this webinar.

Participants will gain valuable insights from policymakers, technical experts, and advocates on the process of securing legislative wins to eliminate mercury-containing lighting from the US marketplace. Featured speakers include bill sponsors Assemblymember Ash Kalra from California and Representative Nicole Lowen from Hawaii, industry leaders and advocates from across the country.

By transitioning to LEDs, which are twice as energy-efficient, policymakers and advocates can make a positive impact on the climate and alleviate the strain on electrical grids. An LED future will save consumers money on their energy bills and cut hazardous waste program costs for local governments as they will no longer need to collect mercury lamps. The shift will also reduce the risk of mercury exposure for all, including vulnerable populations such as workers in the waste management industry who deal with end-of-life fluorescents.
