Description:
Under the supervision of the Energy and Climate Change Program Manager, the 5640 Environmental Specialist duties may include but are not limited to the following:
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Coordinate with the Mayor's Office and other City departments on implementation of the Climate Action Ordinance.
- Assist City departments in the development of their climate action plans.
- Assist in development of additional climate policy.
- Coordinate implementation of climate action programs, e.g. the carbon offset program.
- Conduct annual greenhouse gas emissions inventory and coordinate third party certification and registration.
- Track and advocate for policy positions at regional, state, and national levels.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, and three (3) years of professional experience. Two (2) years of this experience must be within the area of specialty; OR
- Possession of a baccalaureate degree in public administration, business administration, environmental science or a closely related field from an accredited college, and two (2) years of this experience must be within the area of specialty; AND
Desirable Qualifications:
- 2 years project management experience
- 1 year experience in the climate action field
- Excellent verbal and presentation skills
- Able to work occasional evenings
