Special Election Update
At the January 17 CRRA Board meeting, the Board voted to hold a special election. As required by the Association’s bylaws, a message was sent to members on February 22, 2006 , notifying them of the upcoming special election. The election will be conducted via email for those with current email addresses on record. For those without email, the paper ballots will be mailed by postal service. The election will open on Wednesday, March 8, 2006 and close at midnight on Friday, April 7, 2006 . The election ballot will include three separate measures, each independent of the others, 1)Measure 06-01 Redistricting, 2)Measure 06-02 Residency Requirement, 3)Measure 06-03 CRRA Policy Manual Method of Delivery.
Members Ask CRRA
Recently, a member questioned CRRA’s internal activities to reduce waste and conserve resources. Here are some of the more recent steps taken by CRRA.
  • Switched from all printed newsletter to a combination of electronic & paper. Instead of 10 paper issues a year, CRRA does 2 paper issues (on recycled paper) and 10 electronic, which has reduced a huge amount of paper consumption.
  • CRRA has switched to electronic balloting
  • CRRA provides on-line conference registration
  • All electronic board packets
  • Print as we go membership applications, letterhead, sponsor brochures and other in-house forms.
  • A measure currently on the ballot, would change the CRRA By-laws to allow electronic posting of the Internal Policy for chapter conveners, versus paper delivery, as currently required.
  • The 2006 Conference Committee is working with SpaceShare to “hook up” conference travelers looking to share a ride or hotel room and provides information on local modes of transportation.
  • Another very exciting thing that the CRRA conference committee is working on this year is to purchase credits to offset the environmental impacts of the conference travel. More information still to come.
