Mentorship Program

ATTENTION NEWCOMERS: The goal of the first-time membership mentorship program is to help newcomers to our organization network with others in the industry. As the industry grows, fewer faces are familiar, even though we all share the same interest in recycling. This program is meant to help those new to the industry meet the seasoned pros. We would like to set up a simple database of both those willing to serve as mentors and match them with newcomers that want to learn more. We would like to match people by interests (zero waste, organics, school education, etc.) or by the same type of work (recycling coordinators, specific program management).

Additionally, through the short mentor meet and greets, there will be several networking opportunities to meet the Board and TC Leadership. These meet and greet opportunities will take place throughout the conference to facilitate networking opportunities in every setting, including at the Welcoming Reception, prior to the Monday Plenary session, Monday at lunch and assisting in after-hours activities, like the Pub Crawl and Tuesday during the Exhibit Hall. Networking and benefits of membership will be presented in a short block of time.

Networking is often cited as a major reason for attending conferences and classes. Increasing our efforts in this area creates yet another value added benefit to membership in our organization.
